I would do this for the rest of my life! Ever since a kid, I’ve loved small sailboarding and was a big reason I joined Boys Scouts - to get sailing time in, not just the merit badge. Many-a-capsize later, I had the chance to go to university in Hawaii and join the Polynesian Voyaging Society to go deeper into sailing culture and get hands-on experience on Hawaiian canoes (so much to be able to just share here) Barring one or two titles, Virtual Reality has become more interesting to me than console/PC gaming, to put it lightly. Can’t wait to see the advancement at the crossroads of VR tech innovation and sailing. Let’s go!
I’m reading the book Swell, and I’m stymied by the distances she’s traveled, or the head of sailing faculty at UCONN Avery Point. I admire the mission of non-profits like Okeanos and the magnitude of the sailing legacy of the ongoing Hawaiian Renaissance and several other cultures through the Polynesian Voyaging Society. I have sailed around the Hawaiian Islands and am currently varnishing a New England style sailboat in CT to take down the Connecticut river into the sea. I have not sailed super far and would love to meet up with other like-minded sorts, but I don’t know how to connect any longer all that much. Maybe there’s a close by group that is using MarineVerse!
