No - you can learn how to sail with NauticEd Training Room and relax in Free Sail mode.

▶Gameplay#

▶What boats are available?
Cruising & Racing Yachts, Dinghy, Waszp, Cat and an Opti.
▶Is there a multiplayer mode?
Yes. Learn more about the MarineVerse Cup multiplayer here.
▶Do I need virtual reality headset to play?
Ideally yes. At the moment we support SteamVR (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Windows MR, Valve Index) and Meta Quest. You can also play on Windows/Mac PC via Steam with keyboard and mouse.
▶Is there a way to just go sailing (not racing)?
Yes. You can find 'Free Sail' mode in the Main Menu.
▶Can I bring my crew on the boat?
Yes, use multiplayer "co-op" mode. You can also create videos and cast your session to a tablet or PC. The PC version of the game also allows you to change the camera position, so you can jump between boats in a race and see what other sailors are doing, so that's a good way to create demo videos.
▶Can I disable VR Tunneling effect when turning?
Yes. In Settings → VR Comfort.
▶Can I play on my mobile phone?
Yes — we're working on iOS and Android companion apps for MarineVerse Sailing Club. Sign up for the beta here.

Racing in MarineVerse Cup is organised in Leagues based on geographic location and a skill level. You can find a list of leagues here.
▶How do I get access to Pro league racing?
You need an active "Sailing Pass".
